Note from Nick-
I want to take a moment to recognize and thank my team. Nearly 12 years ago, I started 29 Pixel Studios with no concrete vision of what it might become. While my vision for the company itself is still evolving, the culture we’ve built together has grown into something I couldn’t have anticipated.
One of the many business books I’ve read suggests that “You’re not a business owner until you can leave for a year, come back, and see the business grow.” While I may not fully agree with the idea, I firmly believe you can either work ON the business or IN it—but not both.
I’ve been away a LOT over the past few weeks. Adobe Max and a trip to Europe with my father. I was only home for a few days, yet the company has continued to run smoothly because of our incredible team.
Our newest member, Isaiah, is diving into the Line of Departure project, bringing an infectious work ethic and energy. He is part of our Army University Press team but working more with web and layout and design.
Our longest running employee, Spencer, remains the graphics king. He is working with CADD but is always contributing to many areas across our company from map design all the way to video production. Zarek was added to our team a few months back and is consistently expanding his skills. The volume this guy is cranking out is shocking. Perhaps the only thing matching the volume is the quality… oh and the different mediums! Podcast [Breaking doctrine] – recording, editing, producing, Video production, filming, editing, design/VFX and recently went out and filmed a three star general solo (for those who don’t know, this can be a bit nerve-racking).
The three star, LTG Beagle is in charge of CAC, and our rockstar Taylor is working public affairs over there with him. I always know it’s Taylor’s work when I see stunning photos from CAC—if the images are spectacular, they’re hers.
On the filmmaking side, it’s been amazing to see the team’s growth. Amber finished a challenging project with an inspiringly positive attitude. Andrew continues to produce movies at an insane speed, excel in logistics, and recently led a major production with Amber that we can’t wait to share. Sara has been a steady leader, consistently lightening my workload, from the smallest tasks to long-term projects.
All of these artists, are professional, kind, eager to grow, and it’s a special thing to be part of this team.
