Documentary filmmaking for Army Press University contract announcement!

29 Pixel Studios is so very excited to announce we won another Government contract and this time it’s for documentary filmmaking! We are teaming up with the amazing folks at Loch Harbour Group and BMA for this multi-year deal!

We are a piece of a much bigger puzzle that is looking to bring historical battles to the modern soldier. Incorporating lessons learned from history and United States Army Doctrine, our documentary filmmaking will be a tool for Army education.

To accomplish this goal, 29 Pixel Studios has hired two talented artists; Andrew Cornwell and Adam Hoffsette. Andrew has a decade of experience with video production in various aspects. Adam recently graduated from the Art Institute with a degree in animation.

Combining historical footage, animations, interviews, and motion graphics we are looking forward to the challenge. More importantly we are looking forward to the reward of being a part of the advancement of our United States Military!

A little further explanation on what our product is and what we mean by documentary filmmaking:

The Army has a teaching tool called a staff ride. A staff ride can bring officers to a historical site where they discuss military strategy of historical soldiers. Actually ‘being there’ enhances the learning experience as one would expect.

For the historical sites that simply do not exist in the same manner as when the battle took place, or perhaps it is not feasible to take a group of United States Soldiers to, the Army uses “virtual staff rides.”

Army University has a crew of 3D modelers and environment builders where the students can move around the terrain/buildings and get a ‘feel’ for the area.

From these virtual staff rides a General Officer desired a documentary filmmaking team to create films. This is where the contract seed was planted. Nearly a year later, we are the lucky team to work on such an amazing project!

  1. Very cool project, Nick, I’m glad to see you’re doing well. I am still pursuing voiceover work for radio, internet video, presentations and tutorials so if you have a need, I can help you out.
